About
The Producers
Aymie Backler applied to be a producer for The Smoking Cabinet Festival of Early Cabaret and Burlesque Cinema, set up by Claire Cooke in 2007. It was through this partnership that Mirror Mirror was created- born out of a desire to create new, engaging environments in which to explore the educational potential of early cinema.
In addition to being co-producer of Mirror Mirror Claire has been project manager for visual arts charity SPACE Studios since 2008 which brought about her involvement with Watch This Space organised by Engage – the National Association for Gallery Education. Claire’s work, including the very successful Hackney’s Here!, helps bring contemporary art and artists into the heart of school education.
Claire has also studied Learning in Museums and Archives at the Institute of Education, worked for the British Film Institute and The National Maritime Museum and in 2006 created the award winning Resonance FM show- On the Fringe.
Aymie Backler was formerly in the festivals and production department at Slinky Pictures Ltd before deciding to become a professional nanny. Past creative projects include working for the immersive theatre company Punch Drunk, assisting in the props department on The Mask of the Red Death and working for the Little Angel Theatre in 2008/9 on events and assisting with Saturday Puppet Club. Aymie is one of the founding members of music collective and record label Upset The Rhythm and is now making her own sonic and visual work under the title of Unearthings.
Both Claire and Aymie have considerable experience of working with schools, have a sound knowledge of the national curriculum requirements and have current enhanced CRB checks.
